This is a migratory bird which breeds only in NZ. It prefers to lay a single egg in the nest of the Grey Warbler but has also been known to use fantail, tit and waxeye nests. It arrives here in August and leaves February/March. It winters in the Solomon Isalands and the Bismark Archipeligo. You may hear it before you see it as it is hard to spot. The green colours and stripy markings blend into the background foliage.
